Snake island is located 3 kilometers from Departure Bay in
Nanaimo, just a 10 minute scenic boat ride from our dock. Snake
island Bird Sanctuary is home to approximately 200 harbour
seals who reside here year round. Snorkellers will be able
to observe the diverse and abundant marine critters that make
their home in the inter tidal area (0-20 feet deep) around the
entire perimeter of the island. Bald eagles are a frequent
sight, and various shore bird species add to the fun.
What to Bring:
Bottled water and all snorkeling gear are supplied (wetsuit
with hood, boots, gloves, mask, snorkel and fins) You should
bring a bathing suite, a towel, warm after-snorkel clothing,
our camera, sunglasses and perhaps a snack. Don't forget
to pack your curiosity and enthusiasm! Snorkel excursions
depart in the afternoon and take about 2-3 hours to complete.
Price:
$99 plus GST includes professional coaching, equipment, boat
charter (2 person minimum).
Non-snorkeling riders $50 plus gst.
