Q: Do you accept pets?
A: We take pets (cats, dogs). Cats must be crated in guest room and dogs must be 35lbs or smaller. Dogs must be on a leash at all times while on the hotel property, except when in the guest room. Housekeeping will not clean guest room with a pet in the guest room. Pets are not to be left unattended in guest room. Please tell reservation agent that a pet will be traveling with you when making a reservation. There is an extra charge for a pet while staying at the hotel. When booking reservation online or through a third party, please indicate that you are bringing a pet(s).
Q: Do you have long term hotel stays?
A: This hotel rents by the night. We do offer special rates for guests staying 3 or more nights. Please check out special discounts and rates at www.hojo.com/nanaimo.
Q: Do you have a Hotel pool?
A: Yes we have an outdoor seasonal heated pool. The pool is open May to September weather permitting. The pool hours are from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or guardian while inside the gated pool area. Pool towels are available at the front desk. Please note that glass containers, bottles or cups are not permitted in the gated pool area.
Q: How close are you to the Nanaimo bus depot?
A: The Bus Depot is located 5 km away at the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. A quick 5 minute drive away from the lobby doors of the hotel.
Q: How close are you to the Nanaimo ferry terminals?
A: We are a 5 minute drive from Departure Bay ferry terminal and a 15 minute drive south to the Duke Point ferry terminal.
Q: What time is check-in?
A: Our Hotel Check-in time is anytime after 3 p.m. If you require an earlier check-in time, please call the hotel direct and see if an earlier time is available. Photo ID and Credit card are required for check in purposes.
Q: What is Check out time?
A: 12:00 noon is check-out time. We do offer a complimentary late check out of 2:00 p.m. subject to availability. You must arrange for a late check-out prior to check-out date with the front desk staff. Please note that any check-outs after 2:00 p.m. will be charged a fee.
Q: Do you have handicapped equipped hotel rooms?
A: The hotel does not have handicapped equipped hotel rooms. This hotel does not have an elevator. The guest rooms are accessible with a standard wheelchair but the room nor bathroom is equipped for persons with a disability.
Q: Do you have cots or cribs available?
A: Yes, we have cots and playpens subject to availability. Should you require a playpen or cot please advise at the time of making your reservation. If booking online or via a third party please note request in reservation. The hotel does not charge for the playpen. The cost of a cot is $10.00 per night.

Q: Parking for oversize vehicles or trailers?
A: The hotel has excellent parking for oversized vehicles and trailers. Hotel guest parking is FREE when renting hotel accommodation
Q: Does your hotel have full kitchenette facilites?
A: No - unfortunately we do not have kitchenette suites. We do have selected accommodation with mini-fridge and microwave upon request. Note, all business rooms do have mini-fridge and microwave in the room.
Q: Do you have to have a credit card to rent or book a hotel room?
A: The Howard Johnson Harbourside Hotel Nanaimo does accept cash or debit card as a method of payment for guest room accommodation; with the following criteria. The hotel requires a $250.00 deposit when paying for your room(s) by Direct Debit or Cash. Valid Photo I.D. is also required to rent accommodation. The hotel reserves the right to charge a fee against this deposit for any damage to the guest room , smoking in a non-smoking room, or extraordinary cleaning required by housekeeping beyond the normal use of the guest room. This deposit is returned to the person who provided the deposit upon check-out.
Q: Do you have smoking guest rooms?
A: NO. The hotel is 100% smoke free enviroment. Smoking is allowed outside in designated areas. A recovery fee of $250.00 will be assessed to the registered guest for smoking in an non-smoking room.
Q: What age do you have to be to rent a hotel room?
A: The hotel policy for renting accommodation is the guest must be 19 years of age. Please make sure you have valid Photo I.D.
Q: Do you accept third party credit cards ?
A: Third party credit card as a method of payment for accommodation. Hotel requires a third party authorization form completed prior to arrival at the hotel. Please note the person checking into the hotel must have valid Photo I.D. to verify identity of guest and must be 19 years of age or older. The hotel can email or fax the credit card authorization form. Incomplete information on the authorization form may cause authorization to be void.
Q: Do you accept third party credit cards called in over the phone?
A: The hotel does not accept voice credit cards over the phone for payment of accommodation. We accept credit cards over the phone to secure accommodation for late arrival or packages.
Q: What do I need to check-in with a Prepaid online reservation?
A: For guests checking into the hotel with a prepaid reservation, please have valid Photo I.D. and a credit card to check-in. The person occupying the guest room must have valid Photo I.D. to match the reservation at check in One guest must be at least 19 years of age or older
