Hotel Policies

Hotel Policies at the Howard Johnson Harbourside Hotel in Nanaimo

  • Check-In Time: 3:00pm
  • Check-Out Time: 12 Noon
  • Children Stay Free Policy:  Children 17 years and under sharing parents or guardians room stay free
  • Pet Policy: must advise hotel in advance and reserve a pet friendly room. Maximum 2 pets (up to 30 lbs) allowed for non-refundable charge of $10 per pet per night. Service animals are also welcome at this hotel.
  • Smoke Free Policy: Hotel guest rooms, hotel building and outdoor pool area is 100% smoke free environment

Hotel Reservation Policies

Cancellation Policy for a non-guaranteed reservation

Cancellation policy is 4pm on day of arrival. If the guest does not arrive at the hotel prior to 4pm to check-in the reservation will be cancelled automatically at 4pm.

Cancellation Policy for a Credit Card Guaranteed Reservation

Cancellation policy is 6pm on day of arrival.
If a guest does not cancel before 6pm, then one night’s room charge will be applied.
Please obtain a cancellation number. Pets are welcome and must be under 30 lbs, $10 per night charge for pet(s) see website for more information.

Cancellation Policy for a Pre-Paid Reservation booked online

Cancellation policy for a pre – paid reservation made online is 24 hours prior to arrival.
If a guest does not cancel 24 hours prior to arrival then one night room and taxes charge will be applied.
Please obtain a cancellation number. Pets are welcome and must be under 30 lbs, $10 per night charge for pet(s) see website for more information.

Hotel accepts the following methods of payment

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, Discover

Debit Cards and Cash

Please note if paying by cash or debit card a room security deposit of $250.00 will be asked for upon check-in. At check-out the guest room will be inspected by hotel staff and if no damages or extra cleaning costs are assessed the full room security deposit will be refunded at check-out.

Check-in Requirements

For pre-paid reservations the person whose name appears on the reservation must provide Photo ID upon check in to obtain access to guest room. A credit card will be asked for if guest is planning to use any of the hotel facilities while staying in the hotel as a room guests. Minimum age to check into the hotel is 19 years of age.  Note Photo ID is required for check in for all pre paid reservations.

For paying with credit card the card name must match the name on the reservation – if different then name on reservation then PHOTO ID plus a valid credit card is required to obtain access to the guest room

For cash or debit card paying guests whose name appears on the reservation must provide PHOTO ID upon check in to obtain access to the guest room.   Please note if paying by cash or debit card a room security deposit of $250.00 will be asked for upon check-in.
