How to find us:
There are several options of travel available to you but the
most popular is B.C. Ferries. Nanaimo is centrally located
and serviced by two ferry routes from the mainland. From
Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver a 1.5 hour scenic ferry ride
will have you arriving in centrally located Departure Bay.
Tsawwassen, located south of Vancouver is the perfect option
for visitors traveling from the United States. During the
2-hour ferry ride, enjoy the sights of the Gulf islands and
Vancouver's coastline arriving at Duke Point, just 15 minutes
south of downtown Nanaimo. For convenient ferry reservations

Duke Point:
Follow signs to Nanaimo/Campbell River; follow the Nanaimo
City Centre sign lane route, (this becomes Terminal Avenue).
The Howard Johnson Harbourside Hotel is located on the left
hand side of the road, across from the Civic Arena. The cross
street is Comox. Turn left on Comox and then turn right into

Departure Bay:
Follow the sign Nanaimo City Centre/Victoria, this is Stewart
Ave. until you come to a Y junction. Turn left at the set
of lights onto Terminal Ave. Cross a small bridge; the hotel
is on the right hand side of the road. Turn right onto Comox
Street (Beer and Wine store is on the corner), make a right
into the hotel's driveway. back to top
Victoria & the South Island:
Coming from Victoria to Nanaimo, this is highway number one;
follow the Nanaimo city centre sign lane route, (this becomes
Terminal Avenue). The Howard Johnson Harbourside Hotel is
located on the left hand side of the road, across from the

North Island:
From Campbell River, Parksville, Port Alberni, and other points
north, follow the Nanaimo City Centre/Departure Bay ferry
route sign. This is Highway 19A, stay on this roadway until
you come to a Y junction (sign will say Nanaimo City Centre/Victoria)
turn right at the set of lights onto Terminal Ave. Cross
a small bridge, the hotel is on the right hand side of the
road. Turn right onto Comox Street (Beer and wine store is

If you wish to travel around Vancouver Island, Laidlaw Coach
lines runs frequent service north, south and west of Nanaimo.

Seaplanes:
If you prefer to travel by seaplane you can depart from downtown
Vancouver and arrive just 20 minutes later in downtown Nanaimo

The HarbourLynx fast ferry is not operational at this time
If traveling by air, a quick 15-minute flight from Vancouver
International Airport to Nanaimo Airport is located 15 minutes
south of downtown Nanaimo. Two airlines service Nanaimo. You
